ABOUT
Hi it’s Mike & Sally Field-Dodgson looking at you from the left hand side of the page – I wish you well.
Why am I here? To show people that there is a way to regain their fitness and to improve their flexibility and it is the best way I know. I know it works, I am a product of it.
I’m a hell of a lot closer to 70 than 60 and I have been fortunate enough to realise how important it is to be fit, and so enjoy all the positives this brings. I always say my psychological age is 38, and so my mind or subconscious is not surprised by some of the projects I work on and the things I do for enjoyment. It is a funny thing though, some of my friends of similar age think I am a bit strange, and say things like “I don’t know how you do it”. This is a bit sad because I am no freak, and these days how to get fit and healthy is no secret!
You won’t see pictures of me in my shorts, minus a shirt, showing off my beautifully toned and tanned muscles (ha ha!!) and you won’t hear “macho” type dialogue from my mouth. Mine is a simple but effective message about getting fit and flexible and improving our quality of life by quite a few notches.
I am a husband of 43 years to my wife. I have two lovely daughters living in the area and all three females are very tied up with horses; My wife is a National Dressage representative. My wife and I live in the country on a small farm, about 40 kms from the “big smoke”.
I am a keen follower of any kind of sport, but rugby in the winter and cricket in the summer are my favourites. My wife and I are keen skiers – it’s great because we get to ski for half price! and we go tramping/hiking in the mountains with friends in Summer. I exercise by rebounding, stretching and cycling.
I am fortunate also to have been bought up using the alternative means of combating illness as opposed to the usual chemical methods i.e. drugs, and my diet when I was growing up was unrefined and wholesome. My family and I rarely get colds and I wouldn’t blame the Doctor for forgetting who each of us is.
I know that our good health is due to our fitness and lifestyle. Our lifestyle is definitely not “Monk Like”. Obviously we don’t smoke, but we do enjoy the an alcoholic beverage now and then (maybe towards the “now”) and occasionally we get fish and chips or a Chinese meal from the fast food outlet.
I mean if you are fit and active then you can partake occasionally of those things that the health professionals say are bad for you because your body will “use” the digested energy. You see with an inactive person, the digested energy is “stored” as most of us know.
One problem I have is that I get “fat on the view”, that is, I am known as a “good doer”. I have a slow metabolic rate – I can put on weight easily. Therefore I have to watch how much I eat to make sure that the equation EE = EU is balanced. Where EE is Energy Eaten, and EU is Energy Used. My exercise routine helps out with this big time.
I have been a scientist in the life sciences at the start of my career (15 years), then a business man for the next part (19 years), then a builder last (5 years).
While building I realised my level of fitness was not as good as I thought it was. OK I was “fit” generally, but when you carry a tool belt (mine weighed 6.5 kgs) around for 8.5 hours of activity per day, you realise how much fitter you can be.
S0 I am now on a mission to help people improve their diets, be less gravitationally challenged, and so improve their fitness and flexibility levels so they can do the sorts of things that we do.
The Why?
I realise that I was fortunate to have been brought up on a wholesome, unrefined diet with a minimal dependency on the standard medical practices of antibiotic and drug administration. OK so this lifestyle gives me a great platform to enjoy good health and vitality, but it doesn’t guarantee good fitness and flexibility. It does, however, help with the mindset to be the best I can be physically.
So I want to help you, if you need help, to improve your fitness and flexibility. I want to share what I have done, and am doing to insure that my quality of life is excellent. Just because you may have been on this planet for quite a while, or you have tended to let your fitness and/or activity take a back seat to your lifestyle, doesn’t mean you can’t change the way you are……..it’s up to you………
